I audited 40+ landing pages in the Exit Five community. Use these 9 tips to audit your own: 1. Don't confuse a landing page & homepage First thing's first - a landing page and homepage are not the same. There are many reasons why you shouldn't send paid traffic to a homepage, the largest being - everyone including your mother can access the homepage. That means you'll optimize based on murky data. Bad optimizations + mom = money wasted. 2. Content is king but design is queen Your content could be A+ but it won't matter if the page doesn't load or the UI is messy. Pro tip: Run a lighthouse test to check how your website performs. It will give you a list of things to improve. 3. Buzzwords are for the bees If you wouldn't use it in a conversation with another human, then don't put it on the website. Boost your streamlined buzzword soup right into the revolutionized garbage can. Pro tip: Most people read at an 8th-grade level, even if they're highly educated and can read at a higher level. The human brain is lazy...um, I mean, wired for efficiency. Get them to register information about you quickly. 4. Limit the number of asks Do you want our ebook?? Do you want a meeting?? Do you want to pet my dog? We make roughly 10,000 decisions a day. Your buyers are tired. Make 1 ask of your users per landing page. Make it direct. Make it simple. 5. Don't ask too soon Unless your buyers are banging down your door for meetings like Ticketmaster and Taylor Swift tickets, don't ask too soon. You are not Taylor Swift. You need to do some more convincing. Your ratio of value to ask should be 90:10. Tell them what you are, who you're for, what problems you solve, how you solve them, prove your credibility, answer objections THEN... and only then...make an ask. We date before we marry. 6. Story and balance? Landing pages either have too little or too much information. There's no in-between. Don't feature dump - address and acknowledge problems your ICP faces then talk about your features in context of how it solves the problem. 7. Testimonials Using the same testimonials on every page? Make them specific to each product or segment. Pro tip: Link to customer LinkedIn profiles so your users know they’re real people. 8. Prioritize FAQs This is the highest interacted-with block on every landing page I've seen. But make sure to answer real questions and objections not "Why are we the greatest company on earth?" - no one. 9. Optimize for consumption For B2B, they won't convert the 1st or even 50th time. Research heavy, long buying cycles, big committees, yada yada. Look for how they're consuming information on-page then look at overall handraisers on your website over time. --- If reading isn't your thing, Matthew Carnevale and I go over learnings from the audits on episode 185 of the Exit Five podcast. --- I do this for a living. I'll be the first to admit - When I started posting on LinkedIn regularly, my content fell flat. I made some rookie mistakes like writing long-winded posts that rambled on without a clear point. But over time, as I studied what worked (and what didn't) from the posts that drove surges in new followers, I noticed patterns emerge. Little tweaks that dramatically improved engagement. I'm still learning and evolving, but here are 6 key lessons I wish I knew from the start: 1. Structure matters Successful posts have a clear structure that grabs attention quickly.? Use techniques like: - brief numbered tips, - short punchy sentences, - and easy-to-scan bullets. Think about it this way: If an email has bullets neatly nested, you go straight to those to get the gist.? Apply that same thinking to your posts. 2. Stories > lecturing Guide don't preach...People want to hear your experiences. Rather than lecturing, share personal stories allowing readers to draw their own conclusions. Guide them through your journey. I usually weave in parenting lessons to lessons in business. Because art is life, and vice versa ?? 3. Simplifyyy Aim to write at a 3rd to 5th grade level using simple, conversational language.? Write like you speak...Read it out loud if unsure. Hemingway App is a great tool that spits out a reading level for your draft. AND gives recommendations on how to make it easier to read. 4. Visuals = engagement… but ONLY with great copy. Relevant images increase reach 15-20%.? Selfies by 30%.? And carousels a whopping 1.6x over text/image posts alone. The second I started adding images, the more I saw engagement increase. That being said — make sure the images aren’t the only thing providing value. If the copy itself is not specific or actionable, it’ll just look like a sponsored post. Take one of my top posts from the last 90 days: I attached a preview image of the article I referenced. Not a carousel. Not even something branded. But it worked because the copy itself was loaded with tons of my own data and insights. 5. Optimize for mobile Keep posts concise and visually-appealing. With the majority (88%) browsing LinkedIn on mobile, optimizing for THAT experience is #1. Add line breaks so that they read like a slippery slope… Getting your reader to get all the way… To the end. Add carousels, or even graphics from other creators (with credit!). They’ll add scroll-interrupting dimension to your audience’s feed. These aren't earth-shattering revelations. But small, intentional tweaks like these made a big difference for me.? I'm still figuring it out, but wanted to share what's helping so far. Let me know if any of these lessons resonate with you or if you have other tips to share! I'm all ears.

When I write a web page with the goals of ranking AND building thought leadership, I: 1. Give Google what it wants to see (i.e., a straightforward title, keywords in the header tags, and copy that satisfies search intent). 2. Introduce my unique POV and support my argument with proprietary data. (This is not the same thing as writing a blog then forcing the strategic narrative in.) *** For example, I wrote an article that ranks at the top of page one for keywords like “workplace skills gaps” and “skills gaps.” Unlike other articles on the topic, mine doesn’t talk only about employee skills gaps. It talks about customer skills gaps and partner skills gaps, too — before introducing the concept of organizational education. The article then shares a proprietary framework for educating multiple audiences in the workplace. I included original data insights—from a research report the company published—to add depth to the piece. ???? How do YOU approach this type of work?

Despite the investment, be it $100,000, $100, or simply product seeding, the endgame should always focus on crafting a funnel that captivates and converts. If there's one thing I've learned and emphasized repeatedly, it's that every link influencers share should lead not just anywhere on your site but to a landing page crafted for conversion. The generic homepage? It simply won't cut it. It's about creating a journey that speaks directly to the audience's needs and curiosity. Take Hint's flavored water, for example. A mommy blogger's glowing review should navigate her readers not to a one-size-fits-all homepage but to a landing page enriched with tailored content about what matters to them: ingredients, kid-friendliness, and why it's a healthier choice than juice. This approach doesn't just align with the audience's expectations but significantly boosts conversion rates — think a 9-10% increase! So, what magic ingredients make up the perfect landing page? It's all about addressing the fundamental questions that hover in every potential customer's mind: ? What's being sold? ? Why should I care? ? How soon can I have it? ? How will it enhance my life? ? How does it stand against alternatives? Recognizing the heightened intent of users coming through earned media, the timing of email pop-ups, the offer displayed, and product messaging must be meticulously planned. Here's a rundown of essential sections, each tailored to echo the landing page's specific narrative: ?? Hero Section:?A compelling mix of problem-solving copy, social proof, and a strong call-to-action (CTA) ?? Social Proof:?Embed customer UGC, videos, or reviews to fortify trust. ?? Shop Section:?Showcase products, ensuring the visual and messaging consistency. ?? Guarantees & Offers:?Highlight introductory offers, bundles, or gifts with purchase (GWP). ?? Comparison Chart:?Provide clear, honest comparisons with competitors or alternatives. ?? Catalog & Product Detail:?Offer a browsing experience of alternate products or delve deeper into your product's story, ingredients, and unique value proposition. ?? FAQs & How It Works:?Address common queries on-site to preclude any need to leave the page. Creating a landing page that genuinely converts is an art backed by strategic thinking. It's about crafting a narrative that captures and holds the audience's attention long enough to convert curiosity into action. Would love to hear your thoughts! Every week, I talk to business owners who are exhausted from the constant hamster wheel of creating content, showing up on social media, and hustling for every single lead. Meanwhile, their competitors are getting leads in their sleep. The difference? A strategic SEO system that works around the clock. SEO isn't just about rankings or vanity metrics. When implemented correctly, it becomes an automated lead generation engine that: → Attracts your ideal clients when they're actively searching for solutions → Captures their information through strategic opt-ins → Converts them into paying clients through well-designed funnels Here's how to build this system for your business: ?? Step 1: Attract aligned leads to your offers ?Attract aligned leads to your offers that become repeat buyers without hustling on social media or spending thousands on paid ads. Most businesses create content based on what they think people want to read. Successful businesses create content based on what people are actively searching for. The key is focusing on keywords with commercial intent—search terms people use when they're looking to solve a problem or make a purchase. For example, one of our real estate clients shifted from general topics like "home buying tips" to specific queries like "how to buy a house with student loan debt." This simple change brought in highly qualified leads who were much closer to making a decision. ?? Step 2: Create standout content that captures ?Create standout content that captures the needs and desires of your leads + leaves them booking inquiry calls or opting into your freebies. Rankings mean nothing if visitors leave without connecting. For every piece of content you create, develop a relevant touch point that provides additional value related to the search query. (ex. lead magnet, related piece of content, call booking link, application form, etc.) Our financial coaching client saw their conversion rate jump from 1.2% to over 7% when they replaced their generic "take the quiz" with targeted language specific to each blog topic. ?? Step 3: Convert your audience into paying clients ?Convert your audience from potential customers to paying clients through a sales and organic content process that does the work for you. Once you've captured a lead, the system should continue working. Implement email sequences that nurture these leads based on their specific interests. Tag subscribers based on which content they found you through, and tailor your messaging accordingly. This approach has allowed our clients to see consistent sales from leads who found them months ago—often from people they've never directly spoken with. ? How I boosted a client's site traffic by 54% in 45 days WITHOUT publishing new blog posts: I see it all the time... Businesses pumping out blog posts every month, yet their traffic barely moves. If your existing pages aren't performing? Creating new content ISN'T the solution (not yet). Instead? Optimize what you already have to rank higher and drive more traffic. Here’s a super-effective method not many businesses know about: 1. Open Google Search Console. 2. Set the date range to the last 3 months. 3. Export your keyword data. 4. Find keywords ranking in positions 5-15. 5. Match these keywords to the pages they’re ranking for. These are your hidden gold. Google already likes these pages—they just need a push. Now, refresh those pages: ? Delete fluff that adds no value. ? Add new sections that answer search intent. ? Expand existing sections with more detail. ? Rewrite headings to include target keywords. This process works faster than writing new posts—and gets results.

We grew a clients organic traffic by 60% while all other channels decreased. It took us 6 months, but here are some insights into how we did it. 1) Make content production predictable: we installed a process for evaluating the topics we write about and weaving SEO into the process. We went back and forth on keywords with writers vs. forcing keywords down their throat. 2) Focus on older content: they had built a huge library, we looked at what content was working and what should be working, and worked on refreshing the content that should be working. You see quicker results this way. 3) Topical authority: this company was looking to build a category that had low search volume (because they were building it), we found subcategories that were related and focused heavily on developing content in these areas. 4) Clear reporting: we had metrics we focused on as early indicators like traffic and rankings, and then as time went on, we started focusing on the content that was driving MQLs and Pipeline. The key was setting up the platform for future measurement.

So many businesses crushing paid and organic social are still leaving $100,000/month on the table. Here’s how to fix that. Years ago, I relied on social media traffic. It worked until Facebook’s algorithm tanked my reach. That’s when I realized: SEO is predictable, compounding revenue over time. The best part? It’s simple. No agency needed, just focus on the right steps. Start with backlinks: the backbone of SEO. Here’s your ideal link distribution: 40% homepage (domain authority) 30% high-intent pages (sales-focused) 20% feature/product pages 10% blog content (topical authority) If you’re short on time, I can help with a done-for-you backlink solution (details on my site). But backlinks alone won’t hit $100K/month. Here’s the roadmap: 1. Quick Wins Identify pages ranking #11–20 in Google (Search Console). Update titles/meta descriptions with keywords and emotional triggers. Add internal links to boost authority. Secure 1–3 quality backlinks to these pages. 2. Technical SEO Fix your site’s foundation: Optimize Core Web Vitals (speed/usability). Mobile responsiveness. Fix crawl errors (404s, duplicate content). Add schema markup. 3. Sharpen Content Rewrite titles for user intent. Example: “Payroll Software Features” → “10 Payroll Features That Save Time.” Add fresh data, visuals, and case studies. Build internal links from high-traffic pages. 4. Competitor Insights Analyze competitors with similar Domain Ratings. Fill content gaps. Example: Their "Best Marketing Tools" → Your "Best Tools for Agencies 2025." Focus on buyer intent keywords. Example: "Affordable CRM for Startups." Add more value with visuals, charts, and videos. 5. Content Strategy Cover all funnel stages: TOFU (guides/blogs): “Scaling Remote Teams in 2025.” MOFU (product comparisons): “[Tool A] vs. [Tool B].” BOFU (case studies): “How [Tool] Boosted Revenue 40%.” Repurpose content into videos, checklists, or tools. 6. Backlink Building Guest posts: “5 Marketing Trends for 2025.” Reclaim unlinked mentions. Use broken link building, or buy backlinks (see my site). 7. Measure & Scale Track rankings and conversions every 30 days. Refresh top-performing content with new stats/insights. Add lead magnets: templates, reports, etc. 90-Day Plan: Days 1–30: Optimize quick wins, fix technical issues. Days 31–60: Publish content, build backlinks. Days 61–90: Scale strategies, add lead magnets. Don’t: Target overly competitive keywords too soon. Skip regular reviews. Write without buyer intent. Follow this for 90 days. Day 91? You’ll thank me.
